Soy and tamari sauces are today used extensively for cooking, both because of the taste, the consistency and the color.
Below you can find inspiration on how to make easy and delicious meals using the soy sauce products to spice things up a bit.

Grilled salmon with herbs

  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, peeled and seeded.
  • 2 Tbsp. of your TOBA japanese soy sauce.
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp. white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 3 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley leaves
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh dill leaves
  • 6 salmon steaks

STEP 1

Place first 8 ingredients in a food processor and blend untill smooth. Pour into a shallow glass dish and add salmon, turning to coat. Cover and marinate in refrigerator for 30 minutes. Turning occasionally.

STEP 2

Remove salmon from marinade, reserving marinade. Prepare hot barbecue grill or preheat oven boiler. Coat grill with vegetable oil.

STEP 3

Place salmon on grill. Grill, basting ocassionally with reserved marinade. Grill about 8 minutes on each side or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Serve with a good white wine – we recommend Barokes white wine in a can.

Texas Chilli (From the heart of Texas)

  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 4 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 lb. beef, cut into cubes
  • 1 green and 1 red bell pepper seeded & chopped
  • 1 tbsp. cumin powder
  • 1 Tbsp. chilli powder
  • 1 jalapeno pepper seeded & minced
  • 3 cups canned tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
  • 2-3 Tbsp. of TOBA Japanese soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves.

STEP 1

In a large put, saute garlic and onion in oil over medium heat until fragant. Add beef and saute until brown. Add green and red bell pepper and saute about 2 minutes.

STEP 2

Stir in cumin, chilli powder and jalapeno pepper. Add tomatoes and break them into small pieces. Add water and mix well.

STEP 3

Simmer over low heat uncovered for about an 1 1/2 hrs. stirring occasionally. Adding more water if needed.

STEP 4

Add TOBA Japanese soy sauce and mix

STEP 5

Sprinkle with cilantro leaves.
Serve with a good red wine, – we recommend BAROKES Australian red wine in a can. Excellent wine to this menu.
